Bridge Project

Molded Fiber Glass CP was chosen to assist the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the construction of a bridge replacement. Refugio County has a humid subtropical environment (averaging close to 40 annual inches of rain) leading to high corrosion on bridges and other structures. MFG CP previously produced a fiber reinforced plastic bridge in San Patricio County that was standing up to all of the Texas size climate problems. There we’re 8 fifty foot customized beams; each beam is 1 ½ foot thick and once complete weighed over 5,000 lbs. The 29 foot span bridge demonstrates that an extremely high level of composite manufacturing was achieved.
